everytime I do a timing belt and pull a radiator out, all the debris that falls out from between the A/C heat exchanger and the radiator... I'd say there are pretty good chances for something to get in there... we're not saying it will happen... but it could. And why risk it? Now as far as your accessory belt comment, I haven't heard of it personally, but people have lost belts in a variety of ways... but they can also just get spit back out due to the design. If a small bit started to get pulled in on the FLAT round surface of the belt pulleys, it could just slip out. Now on a COG, if it gets into the cog between the cog itself and the belt... where is it gonna go?? Its trapped... and if its a sharp rock/bit of glass, it could easily cut the belt/tooth, etc... I think you pretty much validated our arguement bringing up the belt/pulley/cog issues...
